We have implemented safety protocols informed by CDC and local health authority guidelines to keep our students, drivers and school communities safe. This includes mandatory face masks, regular sanitization of surfaces, health and safety certifications and contact tracing administered through our technology platform.

Non-traditional student transportation

All drivers of Zūm’s non-traditional student transportation undergo rigorous screening, background checks, and training. Zūm offers this service to benefit our school districts and best meet the needs of students.

Traditional student transportation

Zūm provides experienced and reputable drivers of yellow school buses who exceed federal, state and local standards.

Ride safety protocols

Our drivers are required to adhere to specific safety protocols while picking up or dropping off students and while driving. These include procedures around secure seatbelt buckling, using designated pickup and dropoff locations and mobile device usage.

Driver profiles

View the complete profile of your drivers via the School Dashboard or Zūm apps, including each driver’s certifications and photos of the driver and vehicle.

Safe hand-offs

Our processes and systems support customized pickup and drop-off instructions for each student, easing the safe transport of small cohorts of our youngest students or communicating self-release protocols for Special Education students.

Incident management

Appropriate and timely responses to behavioral or harmful incidents is critical to maintaining a safe environment for all students. Our safety protocols mandate specific actions and formal reporting to ensure all stakeholders are informed.

Centralized dashboards

Districts, schools and operators are able to track rides in a map view from start to finish. Know when each student is picked up and dropped off. Routes are adjusted in real-time to account for absent students or traffic issues.

Incident reporting

Our platform supports timely reporting and escalation of student issues encountered during rides. Secure, centralized reporting keeps everyone appropriately informed.

Driver apps

Drivers are able to preview all students on assigned routes, along with important, supplemental information for each student where necessary. Routes are adjusted in real-time to account for absent students or traffic issues.

Parent and student apps

Parents are able to view the complete profile of their child’s driver through their Zūm app, along with accessing real-time information about vehicle location and pickup or dropoff status for each ride. For older students with their own mobile devices, the Zūm kids app allows students to track their rides in real-time and get to know their drivers.
